To understand why an interior drainage system is so effective, you first have to understand why your basement leaks in the first place. When heavy rain hits our regional clay soils or winter snow begins to melt, the ground becomes completely saturated. This trapped water creates a rising water table around your home, creating immense hydrostatic pressure.

When our team arrived, we found clear signs that water had been entering the basement for some time. Moisture staining was visible along the block foundation walls, and water had been collecting where the walls met the basement floor. Like many older basements in southeastern Minnesota, hydrostatic pressure around the foundation was forcing groundwater inside whenever the surrounding soil became saturated.
The project began by carefully removing sections of the existing concrete floor along the foundation walls. This allowed our team to excavate a trench around the basement and prepare the area for the new waterproofing components.
By the time the project was complete, this Dodge Center basement had been transformed from a space vulnerable to recurring water intrusion into one protected by a modern waterproofing system.
